:Story of the Photo Shoot:

written by Diane

We decided to spilt the photo shoot over 2 days instead of 1 day. I was worried about it raining on the day of photo shoot, that we may have to reschedule the wedding shoot. I reasoned since we have to pay additional fees to the makeup artist in the event that we reschedule the photo shoot last minute, and having the additional headache of having to find a day that the photographer would be free, we might as well slot it as a 2 day shoot instead of 1. I figured we might as well save the hassle.

We were supposed to do our photo shoot in early May but due to some last minute stuff, we rescheduled it to a week later. Lucky thing that we did! It was raining cats and dogs on the 2 days.

Day 1 of the photo shoot

The makeup took about 1.5hours for me and I was yawning her head off. I worked late the night before and didn't sleep well. A cup of coffee did stop my yawning and tearing (ruining her mascara) but only briefly. The next problem? Taking photos!

I love taking photos but only if I'm behind the camera ... and I have a problem have to pose and smile in front of the camera! The last time I did that for a glamour photo shoot the guy gave up and told me "OK! don't need to smile anymore!".

My posings were stiff, I was clenching my fists and I constantly glared at the camera and Zit Seng (those poses that requires me to look at him lovingly). So the poor photographer had to think of ways to make me smile ... He kept comparing me to Zit Seng which they called him the "professional" since he could readily smile on demand ... I just couldn't do it! Anyway it was really BAD ... we manage to go through some of the studio shots and we went out in the "kua" to a nearby chinese temple located next to Central Mall (I refused to take pictures with the one at Telok Ayer). The photographer decided to call it a day after that and  told me to go home and have a good rest since I'm obviously too tensed up.

Day 2 of the photo shoot

I yawned less and basically was in a chirpier mood since I had enough sleep. However my face was quite puffy, including my eyes (because I didn't bother to splash cold water on my face like I did on the first day) so I had to have remedial work done, including fake eyelashes. It really felt weird wearing the lashes! My first time having to wear them! All of the sudden my vision is suddenly outlined with black fuzzy frame!

After the fussing over the makeup, we took a few more studio shots before we went outdoors. I was asking the photographer to climb on the ladder since I wanted a particular type of shot that needed to be taken from above ... apparently he has a phobia of heights too! I kept asking him to go higher but he refused! Anyway he had his revenge later ...

We went to Botanic Gardens (the SMU part) to do out photo shoot and it was SO HOT! We were melting under the hot sun!

After that we proceeded to Sentosa! Ya, I know, Sentosa has been overly used in wedding photos. While we were there, there were at least 5 other couples doing that wedding shoot (on a weekday!).

The chapel was really nice! There was another couple there so we waited for our turn. The photographer turned and said to us "See you so lucky, we have 2 assistants to help you around!". True enough, most of the other couples around were with the photographer alone. I only saw one other photographer with an assistant. After the chapel, we proceeded to the beach.

While it was quite miserable to be walking around in a gown on the beach (Zit Seng can take off his vest and jacket at the beach) - hot, thirsty and tired, it was quite fun too ... at least the lagoon is cooling! One of the shots we were asked to go into the waters and we had trouble standing because the waves were really quite strong! So hence a few shots of us clinging on to each other for dear lives. Then the photographer exacted his revenge. On the pretext of taking somemore shots, we were asked to go deeper into the lagoon. While we were wading into the deeper waters, we turned back and saw them packing up to go back!

*grrr* I should have made him climb all the way up on the ladder!
